This article explains how to enable the 3-Position Deadman Switch functionality located on the back of the FAIRINO Teaching Pendant.
A deadman switch, also known as an enabling device, is a safety device that allows a robot to operate only while the operator actively holds it in the required middle position.
Before proceeding, ensure that the WebApp Robot Software is at least running Version 3.9.7. (Any version after that works great) but the minimum required is 3.9.7
You can verify the current version by either:
Checking the version displayed in the bottom-left corner of the WebApp.
Navigating to System → About → Web Version.
If your robot software is running a version below Version 3.9.7, (e.g. 3.9.2) follow the software update procedure described in the following article:
https://support.fairino.us/portal/en/kb/articles/how-to-update-fairino-robot-software
Important: The update must be performed through the gradual version checkpoints specified in the update table. Follow the sequence shown in the table and do not skip any required intermediate versions. To activate the functionality, open the WebApp and navigate to:
Initial → Safety → Safe Stop → Safe Stop Mode
From the drop-down menu, select CR Certification, then click Configure.

When the robot's safety stop signal is triggered, You can switch the robot to Manual Mode using the teach pendant. The robot can then be jogged manually or switched to Drag Mode, allowing the user to manually move the robot and troubleshoot the system.
